Special circumstances – if you meet the criteria to be considered under this scheme you will need to submit the form and evidence with your application form to be considered. As this section of the form is not configurable for the IMY3 process, please disregard the message asking you to submit your evidence by email to the MDRS team, how this is managed will be covered in the ‘Supporting information’.
All applicants should be answering either that they are a current core trainee and expecting to complete their core training by the advertised post start date, or have completed core training. Those who have completed core training will be required to upload their final ARCP document to their application form.
To attach a document, log into Oriel, click 'dashboard', and then click on the 'document upload' tab once there. Click the 'Add' icon to upload a new document.
On the next page choose the 'ARCP' category. Please ensure you select the correct category, only categories which match the options you choose in the form can be attached to your application.
Once you reach the end of the application you will be prompted to confirm the documents you wish to attach to your application.
This area of the application contains your medical employment history. If there are any gaps between posts in your history, of longer than 28 days, during the three years preceding the advertised IMY3 start date (ie since July 2017), you will be required to make these explicit in this section.
It is acceptable to group together Foundation Programme rotations into a single employment record to save time completing the form.
If you have worked in lots of locum posts for short periods of time it is acceptable to use the employment gap section of the form to overview your work experience during these periods. When doing this you should enter the dates you are covering and then the text box to provide details on the specialty(ies) and level of employment and the whole time equivalent you worked during the time period.
As IMY3 does not have a competitive process or interview, there is no requirement to provide any information regarding achievements and no self-assessment process. Consequently, this page will not require you to supply any information.
There will be a few areas of information where, depending on your circumstances, you may need to supply information:
You will be asked to confirm which parts of the MRCP(UK) you have completed and the dates on which you passed. It is only a requirement to have completed Part 1 at the time of application and subsequent parts can be gained in IMY3.
Core competences outstanding – if you had any competences/requirements, aside from the MRCP(UK), outstanding on your final ARCP document, you will need to provide details of:
- what was outstanding
- what you have subsequently gained
- what is still outstanding
You will also be asked to upload evidence to your core training ePortfolio of any subsequently gained requirements and give permission for the panel assessing eligibility to view this so they can make a decision. It will be confirmed at time of application when any evidence should be uploaded by
If you wish to change region and your personal circumstances meet the criteria of the national recruitment special circumstances policy , you will be able to be considered for an offer on an equal basis to those who trained in that region. If you wish to apply to the same IMY3 region in which you undertook core training, there is no need to apply for this process as it will not improve your chances of an offer.
Special circumstances are defined as where you either: are the primary carer for someone who is disabled (as defined by the Equality Act 2010), or have a medical condition or disability for which ongoing follow up for the condition in a specified location is an absolute requirement. The applying to region section of this website has additional information on this process.
If you wish to be considered, you will need to answer 'yes' to the question on this page of the form and upload the standard special circumstances form and evidence of your circumstances to your application.
This is where you will select the region for which you wish to be in contention for an IMY3 post. You can only select one choice and this will be the only region for which you can be considered for an offer, prior to national clearing.
